AP&Q Magazine Vol 19 No 12 features a quilt pattern by Kate Oszko called Nine Patch Surprise. The pattern uses a block sometimes known as a Disappearing Nine Patch. The block is created using a nine patch block which is sewn, cut and rearranged. It is a great pattern for any type of fabric. You can create a scrappy look by random placement within the original block or, you can frame a larger scale print by careful placement within the original block.
- Dorothy Clark has a pattern using this block called Four Square Nine Patch. It is available it kit form in a number of fabric selections. You can see in the images how the fabric selection impacts on the finished quilt. It is a fantastic pattern for a quilt for any occasion, let the fabrics do the work for you. Next time you have fabrics and you’re not quite sure what to do with them, this could be the pattern for you.
